The COVID-19 pandemic took a huge toll on the financial markets, at its worst sending stock prices into free-fall with a historic 20% drop between February and March of 2020. Coupled with hair-raising volatility, it's been one hell of a bumpy ride. Many stocks performed powerful v-shaped rallies, bouncing back and recovering earnings lost during the pandemic. This sends a clear message: the economy is healing. The industries lagging behind are those that were in the direct line of fire, and the hits just kept on coming. Aviation, hospitality, hotels, integrated oil and their subsets were decimated. As pillars of a working economy in all corners of the globe, these sectors will bounce back, organically or via stimulus support.
